Barraveigh Yacht Spec

Sailing Vessel Barraveigh:

She is a 41 foot Jeanneau Sun Legende built in 1986.
• She is cutter rigged with running backstays and roller furling on both headsail and main.
• She carries 39 gallons of diesel in the onboard tank. I carry another 50 gallons lashed to the stanchions on deck in yellow jury jugs.
• She holds 90 gallons of fresh water in 3 internal tanks, and when we think we may need more we fill the additional 15 gallon collapsed containers.
• She displaces 10 tons.
• She is equipped with a brand new Para-Tech sea anchor, a serviced and repacked DBC 4 person liferaft, a state of the art 406 PLB EPIRB, 2 older Magnum B EPIRBs, SSB with Sailmail, 4 VHF radios, 5 GPS units, 16 mile radar, digital and physical charts from San Diego to Panama to Thailand, a rebuilt Perkins 4.108 50 HP diesel engine and a 5KW Kubota generator.
• She also has an A/C unit with ducts but I rarely run it.

Now for the fun stuff:

We have 2 kayaks, 3 surf boards (I started with 6), 5 scuba tanks and dive gear, 3 spear guns and 2 brand new perfectly tuned folding bikes donated from my favorite guys Wen and Wayne at KHS. Let's here it for KHS! (Sadly – the bikes have since rusted out and are no longer with me)

I named my first sailboat JereMae after my dear sweet momma. She liked that a lot. Barraveigh is named after the farm in Ireland that her grandmother was born and raised on. I went back to the old sod and visited it. It's still in the family and that somehow grabbed me. Plus, I like the way the word rolls around in your mouth.
